James W Smith Grading Policy

Grading for 2024-2025

Elementary District Wide

• Assessments:  40%

• Classwork:  30%

• Quizzes:  20%

• Participation:  10%

• Homework:  This will be a category but won’t impact the overall grade.

K-2 Grades will be standards-based and standards will be marked on each report card based on the standards covered in that marking period. 

3-5  Utilizes a ten-point grading scale (meaning - A=100-90, B=89-80, C=79-70, D=69-60, F=59 and below). 

Principal’s List/Honor Roll

Principal’s List

Students in grades 3-5 at James W. Smith Elementary School will be listed on the Principal’s List if they are working on grade level and their average is 90 or above in each subject area. 

Honor Roll

Students will be listed on the Honor Roll if they are working on grade level and their average is 80 or above in each subject area.
